It had been a while since Satoki’s last visit, and she wanted to make sure everything was in order just as he had left it. Delilah was proud to be the library assistant and devoted herself very much to her job. A little too much. Sometimes she’d be deeply immersed in sorting books, or examining scrolls, and forget to do certain things like eat breakfast. However, she was grateful to find occasional snacks placed on her desk from time to time, sparing her the effort of having to go to the cafeteria.
Frizzle also found herself having to constantly dust off all the shelves because of how quickly the air seemed to shift sometimes. Today however, she made sure they were properly sterilized.
“He’ll be here soon and this place must remain spotless!” She grunted as she lifted a heavy stack of books from one spot to the next, “he-he might even give me a day off!” Frizzle pushed back her glasses, “I wouldn’t know what to do with all that time, though. But it would be my time to spend nonetheless!”
This entire time she had been thinking out-loud. When it seemed like the library was empty, then she would voice her thoughts. She loved hearing her voice echo down all the book aisles and bounce back off the walls. It keeps her entertained. Sometimes she would take a book and start reading it aloud. It helped her pass the time when nobody was around, and it lets her build up her courage by practicing public speaking--even though there was no one around to listen.
“Hmmm...” The library was nice and quiet. It wasn’t particularly busy at the moment, but she knew that it was soon going to be once Satoki and the children came. Frizzle decided to boil up some hot water and serve herself some tea to prepare herself for the day.
